• I have just set up a WP blog on my website, all seems to working expect i cant upload any images.

I get the following error ““Image.jpg” has failed to upload due to an error
Unable to create directory /www/website.org/t/y/l/website/htdocs/blog/wp-content/uploads. Is its parent directory writable by the server?”

Any help, i have search and all i have found is to go into the setting and change where the upload files are going but it doesn’t work.

What should i try now, i cant seem to find anything else on this.

    Thanks,

    Tyler

  • This is not a WordPress issue. It is a permissions issue with your web server. Check to make sure the directory has write permissions. If you are unfamiliar with how to do this, contact your hosting company and they can help you.

    Log into WordPress.
    Go to your settings, media
Examine Uploading Files. If anything is there it normally would be “wp-content/uploads”.
Does it have a leading slash (“/”) in front of it? If it does, then that is your problem. Remove the leading slash.

    Have a similar problem.
Changed file permission using Filezilla to 775 or 777.. no Luck
Confirmed setting in Media does not have the leading Slash ( ‘/”)..no luck
In the wp-content folder, did not see an uploads folder so I created one using Plesk Panel and assigned 775 rights to the folder. …no luck again
The message I get is as follows:

Unable to create directory W:\vhosts\mydomain.biz\subdomains\wordpress-test\httpdocs\wordpress-test/wp-content/uploads/2011/12. Is its parent directory writable by the server?

What is weird is the ‘backslash’ that i have highlighted.
Any suggestions? Am a newbies and this is the first install of wordpress. WordPress install went well, but am now trying to upload a plugin and this is where i get this error.
