I have a customer that is having issues updating his plugins on his website. When he clicks on update it comes back with the following error,

Failed to connect to FTP Server etc etc:21

I did some research on this issue and kept seeing to trying using the local host name instead of the ip or actual website name. The customer was already using the hostname so we switched it up and tried the website address. It seemed like it was letting him and then came back and stated there's a problem with the websites xx.xx file, please contact your administrator etc..

We can't get it to get past that error at this point now.

How do we get this website back to normal so this guy can get back to work?

    Edit: A little more Info:

We tried getting it to switch back to the login details that it was using the hostname vs. the website name but it seems like it's not letting us change the login host name, under the tools section..

Please help me with this one any one.

    - First, try contacting the hosting provider if the database server is online / if they have any other problem at their end, or they made any changes to your account, or if there are any limitations/restrictions, if the hosting package is set to Windows and not Linux, etc .
    - double check your wp-config.php file settings for the database name, database username and database password. This is where most errors occur. -Then check that you don't need to change the database host from "localhost" to something else. You can get that info from your hosting provider.
-Check you have actually created a database with the same database name as is in your wp-config.php file.
-Last, but not least, if all that information is correct your database probably has a problem with it, and you may need to contact your hosting provider.

Thank you for your help. The config file either changed the host name and he changed it back to what it should have been which was " localhost " when I looked at it, or the guy was using the wrong username and password because the username I saw in the config file was not what he had us reset the password for.

Thank you for your awesome help sir.
