Here's what I'm sure is an oldie but a goodie, but I can't seem to find this in the forums.
Upon trying to upload photos (.png's & .jpg's, well under the 2 MB limit) it crunches them, tells me there was error then gives me the message:
"The uploaded file could not be moved to /var/www/vhosts/tier1group.com/subdomains/wordpress/httpdocs/wp-content/uploads."
What's my solution?

Verify the permissions in your directory, try with FTP client in the folder: "uploads"
Try changing the permissions on the wp-content directory to 766. If you still have problems, try 767, 775 or 777. Once your uploads are working, change the permissions on wp-content back to 755 again and check that everything still works OK.
