Facebook share links not working (6 posts)

I'm not sure if this is a problem with the plugin or if it's a problem with the WP settings.

"Trackable Social Share Icons" is the plugin I'm using.
The site is set with a static front page, and a page called News for the blog page. But the blog posts actually show up in a category called news instead of on the page.

    The issue is this:
When a user clicks on the facebook share icon, it shares just perfectly, but the link it provides in the share comes back to the site with a 404 error. It links to the page with the slug, but in order to see the posts, you have to go to the http://sitename.com/news.

http://rhondavisionphotography.com is the site, in case you want to check it out. The menu at the top has the link to the News page to see the blog posts.

    Any help is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.

I actually said that wrong. It links to the page with the permalink in the url. I need it to go to the news category.

This is a 'general' forum for plugins, and it is unlikely that the plugin author will pick up this thread.

You may have more luck posting in the forum specific to the Trackable Social Share Icons plugin:

Yoy may also be able to directly contact the plugin's developer through his website: http://www.mikestowe.com/contact

Hopy you can get your question answered. If you do, remember to mark this topic as resolved.

I've had a look at your site, and I think I may have solved the issue:

You need to create a new page; call it what you like.

Then login to your WordPress dashboard and visit Settings > Reading.

I'm guessing that you have the 'Front page displays' option set to 'static page', and you have no page selected for the 'Posts page' option.

If so, you need to set the 'Posts page' option the page which you just created.

Did it work? Please get back to me.

Note: The page doesn't have to be visible in your navagation menu.

First of all, thanks for the reply.

I have a page called 'News' and it is set to the blog posts page. I just went and tried something. If you visit the News page from the menu, you can see the recent blog posts. But if you click on the blog title of any of the posts on that page, it takes you to a 'Page not found'

I'm not sure what that could be :/

Try visiting the Settings > Permalinks page of your WordPress dashboard, choosing any option besides default and clicking the Apply button. This will refresh your rewrite rules, which may fix the problem.

It may also be a problem with one of your plugins. I doubt that it is a problem with the Trackable Social Share Icons plugin, though. If you can tell me what plugins you are using, it would be a big help.
