Facebook meta property og description collects info from plugins? (5 posts)

    Hi there,

    I have had problems in the past with facebook shares not collecting good info from my website, for example the images come up wrong and the text is just random plugin text. I recently used the facebook object debugger and this:

    <meta property="og:description" content="Tweet Tweet Related posts:How to design a Logo from Dark Design GraphicsWhat's On The Fringe a Visual IdentityWhy get your Visual Identity from Dark Design GraphicsSeotiras A Visual IdentityRelated posts: Logo Design in Newcastle Upon Tyne (9.1) Logo Design & business Branding from Dark Design Graphics (7) How to design a Logo from Dark Design <a href='http://darkdesigngraphics.co.uk/2012/02/22/logo-design-newcastle/' class='excerpt-more'>[...]</a>">

    It is collecting information from most of my plugins and I am not sure how to make it just collect info either just from the post or from an SEO plugin like Yoast SEO?

    Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Regards

    I am researching this now...Wordpress is setting my site's og:description to "tweet tweet"...even after I installed plugins to customize my sites og metadata.

    exactly which plugin(s)?

    some plugins use 'the_excerpt()' for the og:description content, and the tweet plugins use a filter to hook themselves into excerpt or content - i.e. if you use a tweet plugin and have ticked to show the tweet button in excertps before the content, then you problem is likely to happen.

    Turns out it was a plugin called simply "Like" that was setting my og:description tag to look like this:

    <meta property="og:description" content="Tweet Tweet" />

    All this plugin did was put a Facebook like button on my page. I deactivated that plugin and have replaced it with one called "wp socializer."

    I am now using a plugin called "Open Graph Protocol In Posts and Pages" to customize how my pages share on Facebook. It's a good plugin except apparently -- after I set it up -- I will need to click "update" on each page and post to get it to start putting the correct Facebook sharing info in my pages.

    Hi alchymyth,

    In fact I did have a twitter plugin called "WP Twitter Button", which I deactivated as both the like and twitter plugins I replaced with wp socializer. So, that may have been the culprit.

    Thanks for the input.
