Facebook-like "Like this" plugin? (18 posts)

Anybody know of a WordPress plugin that adds functionality similar to Facebook's "like this" thumbs-up button?

In other words, instead of leaving a comment someone would click a thumbs-up and it would say that that person "liked" the blog post.

This functionality is different from most thumbs-up or star-rating plugins, which indicate only the amount of stars, thumbs-ups, etc.---not who specifically approved.

I haven't been able to find it while searching Google, but that could just be because I'm not sure what to look for. As you can imagine, "Facebook," "like this," and related terms aren't conducive to good search results.

I'm in the same situation. Would be great to have a "like this" plugin for wordpress and could'nt know how to search it on Google, none of the keywords I tried was good enough...

I have something like this in the works.

You will be able to "like" an article by clicking a small image.
    Things will then happen :)

I'm not disclosing the rest yet because it's something different and I'm not giving away unfinished ideas ;)

it should eclipse the current wp-likes.

Even better, a simple iframe you can use now - http://wpvibe.com/facebook-like-plugin-wordpress-269/

note, this post is written to help you integrate directly into WordPress with the new Facebook Like Plugin that was released today (04/21/2010)

peter, just make sure you don't go around just advertising your videos everywhere, that will be a quick way to get banned from the forum.

Here's a WordPress widget that does just that:

    Facebook Like WordPress Plugin v1.0

Feedbacks appreciated on this blog post while waiting for WordPress to approve it and move it to the directory.

(the blog actually uses it so you can test the plugin live before installing)

Maybe another helpful one: Kouguu FB Like also wraps the Facebook Like Button into a customizable WP plugin. http://www.kouguu.net You can select the button to show before or after the post.

Me Likey - A Facebook Open Graph "Like" Plugin

It's got a ton of flexibility and contains a number of added bonuses over other FB Like plugins. The future release will address any issues currently in the comments section.

The plugin should be on the WordPress Plugins page shortly, they've been slow with the approval. Any feature requests should be directed towards the comments section of the blog post.

Thanks! Any way to do this without the plugins? I find it annoying to have the restrictions that a plug gives me and would like to put the "like" button in a special place in the side bar, not just foating at the bottom of the post.

    Solid, got it rolling, thanks!

Curious - does anyone know how to track who "likes" your stuff? It seems to be working and I can see that "3 people like this..." and so on, but doesn't seem to be a way to tell who they are.

    Anyone know how?

    @nickaster

In the Like plugin (http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/like), just set the "Numeric Facebook ID" field to your own Facebook user ID (ex: 68310606562 and not markzuckerberg) and an "Admin" link will magically appear next to the button.

Don't be afraid, you'll be the only one to see this admin link.

It redirects to a Facebook page showing the fans of the very specific page.

You will need to "like" your own post to see the link (and also be logged in on Facebook with the same User you used in the Settings)

Be careful when you choose which User ID to use: once people like your page, it always has to appear first (but you can later on add more admin by adding their numerical Facebook ID separating them with commas).
