    hi guys, can anyone else confirm that my facebook widget in my sidebar is showing up?

    Confirmed in Chrome 21.0

    Perhaps the problem is in the empty div?
    <div class="fb-like-box" data-href="http://www.facebook.com/artbyherbie" data-width="236" data-show-faces="true" data-stream="false" data-header="true"></div>

    Could you link to the code facebook provides? I just want to check if you're missing some JavaScript.

    i might well be missing something as i made some theme changes and this issue started, however when i select the 'iframe' code and paste it into a text widget, everything shows up fine.

    <iframe src="//www.facebook.com/plugins/likebox.php?href=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2Fartbyherbie&width=236&height=290&colorscheme=light&show_faces=true&border_color&stream=false&header=true&appId=157766117692061" scrolling="no" frameborder="0" style="border:none; overflow:hidden; width:236px; height:290px;" allowTransparency="true"></iframe>

    the above issue occurs when i use the 'HTML5' facebook code option, which also tells me to place the following on my page once also, along with the initial widget code:

    <div id="fb-root"></div>
    <script>(function(d, s, id) {
    var js, fjs = d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0];
    if (d.getElementById(id)) return;
    js = d.createElement(s); js.id = id;
    js.src = "//connect.facebook.net/en_US/all.js#xfbml=1&appId=157766117692061";
    fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js, fjs);
    }(document, 'script', 'facebook-jssdk'));</script>

    could that be the issue, do i NEED the javascript SDK for other facebook interaction like comments etc?

    It looks like that code (in your last post) wasn't in the page.

    if you refresh, you will see the iframe widget working now, i'm pretty sure i was missing the javascript SDK in my template files.

    so the question is, html5 widget code or iframe, any major differences between the two? thanks for your help :)

    HTML5 is newer technology; more semantic and better for SEO and accessibility.

    true say, but i was thinking it may make a big difference SEO-wise if i had my page stream set to 'true'. andrew, can you please confirm if my site loads the facebook javascript SDK?

    I've looked for this code and not found it,

    <script>(function(d, s, id) {
    var js, fjs = d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0];
    if (d.getElementById(id)) return;
    js = d.createElement(s); js.id = id;
    js.src = "//connect.facebook.net/en_US/all.js#xfbml=1&appId=157766117692061";
    fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js, fjs);
    }(document, 'script', 'facebook-jssdk'));</script>

    Is this the SDK code you're referring to?

    Hi-My Facebook like box widget in my sidebar does not show up. When I go to the app page on facebook and save changes under editing for the app it will show up for the moment (and apparently only to me--others looking at the site at the same time never see it) but then when I log off and then back on to the internet it is gone again. Any suggestions. LIke buttons are working in the post but the like/link to website in sidebar is not. Site is
    Thanks

    @Jill55 - what plugin are you using for likes? You need to ask on the plugin's sub-forum in your own thread - posting in old outdated threads isn't the best way to get assistance.

    Find the plugin - and then click on the plugin's support tab - scroll down to make a new post.
