Facebook errors, Child Themes and upgrades. Help please

Hi all.

Ok I have posted 2 times before and gotten no where, and i could use a bit of help, so let me explain my issues.

firstly, the Facebook thing. I have added an app in Facebook, and the plugin so that my blog posts will go to my Facebook web page, but at the moment, after following both the video instructions and the complete instructions with the Facebook plugin, I am still unable to get it to work. I am being told that my site url is not the correct site that the blog is.

which brings me to problem number 2. I am trying to find the id of that home page, which after searching through the help files seems a little difficult to find. My home page is my blog URL, which is the blog that I want to upload to my Facebook page.

which brings me to problem #3. Child themes. I have not upgraded my theme yet because I know that I have edited the theme directly.
I have read through the creation of child theme instructions as well, I have created a child folder and then transferred the whole site into that folder so that It is exactly how it is right now, I then went into a separate folder which contained an unattained copy of the base theme (twenty 11) and copied it into the wp-admin/themes folder, to replace the old updated theme. Now when I did this my site went haywire. My navbar went weird and a whole lot of stuff wigged out, so I changed it back to how it was originally.

I am willing to create a child theme and get this setup so that I can not encounter any upgrade problems, but I need a bit of coaching on how to do this without screwing up my live site.

ps. I am not sure if the fact that I didn’t create a child website/style.css file is the reason for the blog thing, but I can’t find the correct id for Facebook anyway
