The Unspoken theme or customization is displaying a comment count equal to the largest value of an unsigned 32-bit integer when outputting get_comments_number() to the page.

The Facebook plugin does not have a meaningful comment count to output with the page; if you replace the WordPress comments system with the Facebook Comments Box then posts will always return a comments count of 0. The Facebook Comments Box comments are stored on Facebook servers and rendered using JavaScript when the page is loaded. If the theme outputs the comments count number directly then it will always be incorrect.

If a theme outputs a comments number using the comments_number() function then the Facebook plugin has an opportunity to replace text output to the page. The plugin adds an element interpreted by the Facebook JavaScript SDK at runtime with the number of public comments for the given post.

If your theme setup allows easy customization of the theme's .post-meta component you may be able to swap out code: printf( '%u Comments', get_comments_number() ) becomes comments_number(). Other options: the comments count piece of .post-meta could be removed entirely through the theme or the comments number could always return 0.

Thanks Niall for your response. I will look into finding out how to implement the changes you explained. Interesting thing is when i downgrade the facebook plugin to version 1.0.2 it works fine with the correct comment. You can check now on my site its up, but I'd like to have the latest version of the plugin.
