This "Forum Diva" - as she calls herself - was not only extremely unhelpful to me, but she was extremely rude. She went as far to delete some of my posts, which would have been very helpful to others who were experiencing the same problem that several of us were experiencing after updating to the latest versions of WP.

I don't know if you "moderate" your moderators, but this one has left an extremely unpleasant taste in my mouth in regards to WordPress.

    Hi

I'm sorry that you have experienced an issue with forum moderation.

Esmi has a long and established history as a very helpful forum user and moderator, so this is somewhat of a surprise. Perhaps you could indicate with further detail where things have been removed?

Actually never mind, i found the thread.
It looks like you were taking someone else's vaguely related issue and adding your own issue to the thread. This is, in many cases, non-productive, hence the suggestion to start your own thread.
If you have different themes, for example, then posting about your CSS in a thread where someone is having CSS issues is just going to create confusion.

Thank you for your quick response. I posted here yesterday:

    http://wordpress.org/support/topic/distorted-image-on-wordpress-login-page-after-update?replies=10

What is missing from the thread (which I assumed was deleted by the moderator) are two posts I wrote after my question back to Emsi about why I should post another thread for the same issue. The posts included how I fixed the problem using a modified approach to what DougJoseph had suggested. I believe that these posts would have helped others fix their distorted images after the update, but it appears that Emsi (or someone else) deleted them.

You will see at the bottom of this thread a very frustrated post by me. If the tone is unhelpful, I apologize. I felt really angered that I took the time to post helpful information for others experiencing this same problem, just to have it deleted.

    Thank you.

Okay, well DougJoseph and I were at least on the same page - his suggestions helped me fix my problem. I feel as though my posts were deleted out of spite, rather than for the sake of quality control, as they did pertain the the exact problem and had the same solution. But perhaps I misread the tone of emsi's seemingly condescending and cold posts to me. It just seemed like really bad customer service.

Thanks again and have a nice day.

Ragging on moderators is the best way to get popular on any forum...

Personally, I disagree with the forum's policy of ensuring people with the same problem don't pile on the same thread, instead each making their own new thread, but it is their forum and their decisions stand.

Plus they don't have to be here.

  7. We do it for a pretty simple reason: Very rarely do two people actually have 100% the same problem.

WordPress is installed on myriad servers, with a variety of themes and plugins. The number of themes and plugins out there is a bit staggering, and when you've got 20,000+ possible plugins that two users may be using, it's not actually that often that it's 100% the same. Yes, sometimes it is, when everyone who uses a plugin has a problem, but then that's a plugin issue :)

In the case of that thread, we still have no idea if the original poster was using a plugin or not, so while it's likely they're related, we have 6 (you can't see the posts we deleted) people going 'Me to, but I was using a plugin...' and now that poor OP is going to get lost in the shuffle.

Which sucks for him, if he ever comes back at all. :(

And yes we deleted your other posts. We just like it if you make your own topics for problems, it helps us help you better :)

I would make a topic where you actually tell us what plugin you;re using. Maybe that plugin dev would like to know, so they could fix it?

Okay, that makes sense. Maybe the moderator in question can add just one more sentence when she tells people to post a new topic - just so they understand why. For me, when I found that thread it was this "aha" moment, like "I'm not alone - I can engage with these posters about my problem!" Then I get an email saying someone responding, and I'm happy - and it just said, "Please post a new topic" with no explanation. To me it sounded like: "Go somewhere else."

Hope that is helpful feedback. Thank you for taking the time to explain this all to me.

@ Claverhouse - I didn't know popularity existed on forums. Huh, guess I don't venture into the forum world enough...
