Extremely cool way of listing categories and links (5 posts)

Not sure if this would be a Hack or a Feature Request, but I came across one of the best (in my opinion) ways to organizing categories and links...Not sure what tool the guy is using, but here's how it seems to work:
Under "Menu", he's got nested lists (ex: Design -> Graphics, Development -> Database -> MySQL, etc.) There's no differentiation between links and post categories. When you click on one, you get first a list of all local blog posts of that category (if any), next you get a list of links with desctiptions (if available.)
Ok, it's better to see for yourself than have my try to explain it...
Here's the home page of the weblog:
    http://richardathome.no-ip.com/
    Here's a category link:
    http://richardathome.no-ip.com/index.php?catagory_id=31
    Pretty cool, eh?
I'm hoping someone infinitely smarter than me could come up with something like this for WP...

Yeh, that is quite cool, but this would require the WordPress post category structure to be changed. WP would need to have the ability to have categories within categories.

Uh...you mean like the new sub-categories that are in the nightly builds and will be in version 1.1? ;-)

Is it really the same as sub-categories? (I haven't installed the nightly builds, so I don't know how they work...)
Seems like posts and links are sharing the same categories, and when you click on a category you get both the posts (articles) and links associated with that category.
There is some sub-categorization going on (Development -> Database ->MySQL, etc.), but the cooler function (IMO) is the way it's combining post cats and link cats.
I also like the way the results are displayed...

It really wouldn't be all that hard... you wouldn't even really need to combine post and link categories... you could just have the same post and link categories, then display posts first, followed by links... if they were intermingled THEN it would be harder.
