    Hi,

I have recently installed WordPress on Dreamhost and I don't know why, in all the pages appears a ? symbol on the top left corner, it doesn't matter the theme I use, it also apperas with the default theme, it is always there and also exists on the control panel... ¿anyone knows what should I to to remove it? ¿in which file could be this simbol? I need to solve this because if not, the feed is malformed and I can't have suscribers nor create a sitemap with rss...

    Thanks in advance

    Switch hosts? :)

Try creating a static html page somewhere on the server. If the symbol appears even on that, it is a server-side include from Dreamhost. If it doesn't, it might mean that you have a compromised WP install.

I guess you fixed this? There is no strange symbol in the upper left using either IE7 or FF3.

Yes, there is, but it's not visible (see the page source)

I've added a static html as you said, it is here: http://www.auditorjunior.com/ej.html and there the '?' doesn't appear... so, Dreamhost is not including it. This means I've got a corrupt WP install? Do I have to reinstall it?

@kmessinger: you can see it on the source code or selecting text in the top left corner.

I guess so. (Nuke the database too, to make sure)

Using an html page is not logical, there are too many places the php could be getting the ? question mark.

Check your wp-contents/theme/inove/header.php file. Someone probably put it in that file. Also check your default file of the same name.

The heading in all your pages is basically hard coded into the header.php file.

That is on the main html page of your site. There somehow was placed a "?" just before the doctype line. Open the dashboard, bring up main.html, and remove it.

Open the dashboard, bring up main.html

And exactly how do you do that??

LOL! Try to get some sleep before answering a question, maybe?

My mistake ... the "doctype" line would of course be in the header.php file. I'm betting the extraneous "?" character will be right before the doctype at the very top of the file. It appears in the page source right there, so ... can't see where else it could possibly be coming from. And if you view the OP's page, you can sweep your cursor over the extreme top left of his page and the "?" will show - though I don't see it normally.

I think it is a '?' in your wp-config.php file, outside the PHP tags. That's the only file you had to change when you installed WP.

newwws You are correct! Give yourself 3 million points.

A ? at the end or beginning of the wp-config.php produces the same error.
