    hello,

I have a problem with the new version of wordpress. When I upload it to the server it all works fine, but when I try to wxtract it it doesn't work. I get this error:

    Archive: /home/user/public_html/blog/wordpress-2.7.zip
End-of-central-directory signature not found. Either this file is not
a zipfile, or it constitutes one disk of a multi-part archive. In the
latter case the central directory and zipfile comment will be found on
the last disk(s) of this archive.
unzip: cannot find zipfile directory in one of /home/user/public_html/blog/wordpress-2.7.zip or
/home/user/public_html/blog/wordpress-2.7.zip.zip, and cannot find /home/user/public_html/blog/wordpress-2.7.zip.ZIP, period.

What can I do against this? It's not a fault of the host since I can extract other things and since I work at that host I would also know if there was an extraction problem on the whole server.

    best regards,
    Bram P

what can I do against this?

can you unzip the same exact file on your local machine? yes/no ?

Seems like that would be the logical thing to look at next, doesnt it?

Have you tried another freshly downloaded zip? yes/no?

If all fails, maybe you need to use ftp or scp or since you work there .. I assume you have shell access -- man wget && man tar

No, I can't unzip the same on the local machine.

Yes I tried several times to download, upload and unzip a new directory. but no luck...

Yes I can use shell access but this is a normal account like the clients have as well and I also want that the clients can just use it, so I rather solve the problem another way.

    Many thanks for your suggestions.

    Hello forum,

I'm having the same issue of extracting a zipped theme file in cpanel. I've tried the above possible solutions with still no success.

I don't know if a newer version of wordpress is the cause, but this is the ERROR message.

Also, automatic wp-admin upload says UNPACKING THE PACKAGE.

Has anyone found a solution yet? I would very much appreciate hearing a resolution.

    Thanks in advance.

    G'day
