Extra characters added to posts/pages since WP3 upgrade

I get these extra characters in my posts and pages which were obviously not there previously.

“<text in here>†I think replaces ” or maybe it was italics?

• replaces the dot you often see with outlines

’ replaces the ‘ (or apostrophe)

Any way to fix this in the next release because I don’t want to have to go through 142 posts and pages.
