External content into thickbox (1 post)

    I want certain links to external content to open in a thickbox.

    If I put this above wp_head in header:

    <?php wp_enqueue_style('thickbox'); ?>
    <?php wp_enqueue_script('jquery'); ?>
    <?php wp_enqueue_script('thickbox'); ?>

    ...and add class="thickbox" to the given href, it does work for internal links (although it doesn't seem to load CSS properly, e.g. background color isn't right), but it doesn't work with external content.

    These links are set within the template for the page, and basically search for the page title in several serach engines, like this:

    <a href="http://www.google.com/images?q=%22<?php the_title(); ?>%22">Google Images</a>

    Is it supposed to work?

    Any idea how I would accomplish just this without an overfeatured plugin?

    TIA.
