This could be a really dumb question, but since I can't find the answer myself, I'm forced to ask it. Is there a way to export posts/comments/anything? I'm one of those people who likes to have local backups on hand just in case something happens.

Well, you could always just do a backup of your whole database (that's what I do). :)

LaughingLizard has created a great little backup hack that you can integrate right into WP. I use it to backup my database and files all the time.

Okay, I tried that only to discover that "passthru,chown() has been disabled for security reasons" ... I'm assuming my host has done this. If you suspect I'm wrong, please correct me... otherwise, is there another way?

See? These guys know all the tricks. If you want something else that'll help you out with databases in general, check out PhpMyAdmin. It rocks! :)
