I used export on my old site and saved the resulting XML file on my computer. It was a 2.0MB file. When I went to the new site and found Import under Tools (Not Manger like the Codex says), I chose WordPress from the list. It loaded something onto the new site. When I looked, there were only 6 posts (with their comments) and 2 of 3 pages from the old site.
So I went back and tried again. Same drill.
It worked away and then said "Are you sure you want to do this?" with a "try again" button. I tried several times, but it did not work.
How do I get those missing posts and pages onto my new site?

The first time? No error message. The re-try today, I explained above "Are you sure you want to do this?" but no explanation.

I just heard from a friend, that I might not have continued to push the import button at the bottom of each page of uploading files when I exported. So it probably was my own stupid mistake.
But I still need to know how to recover.
Thanks.

Well, I solved it myself by backing up, and then removing each post and page that had been loaded to the new location. That apparently gave WordPress peace of mind, and when I clicked on import again, it actually did import everything.
Hope this will help someone some time, since nobody seemed to have any advice on it.
