• I just inherited a super heavily customized wordpress blog thats running on 2.0.1. Long story short, we are rebuilding a new site from scratch on 3.0. The old blog has 3000 posts on it, and several thousand comments. We are going to break up the categories of the old site into little mini-sites and take advantage of 3.0’s multi-site feature.

    I want to export each category of posts independently and flow them into the new sites.

    Unfortunately, 2.0.1 has no built in export feature and I cant find any old plugins that are still around that might do it. Any ideas on how I can get this done?

  • Very labor-intensive but have you thought about installing 2.0.1, importing the db and then doing a series of upgrades to at least 2.7? That should then give you the built-in export.

    Something like 2.0.1 -> 2.2.1 -> 2.3 -> 2.5 -> 2.7 -> 2.9 -> 3.0.1

    Yeah, i sort of considered that but got overwhelmed at the thought, but if thats the only option thats what I’ll have to do…

    I can’t think of another route. The db changes between 2.0 and 3.0 are pretty big. 🙁
