   I am using the twenty eleven theme. I have an expandable menu in the side bar which shows up on all the pages except for the main home page. I don't seem to be able to find any options that might allow the menu to show on the main home page.

   check your home page template is there get_sidebar() function??? If not than add this function to call sidebar...

   Thanks Shail. I added it and have the menu, but my content has moved down the page to the bottom of the sidebar..

   Do not edit the Twenty Eleven theme. It is the default WordPress theme and having access to an unedited version of the theme is vital when dealing with a range of site issues. First create a child theme for your changes.
