Expand the overall width of a theme (1 post)

Hello everyone, I need to expand the overall width of my website theme but I don't have time to hand code a lot of new CSS. I can't show you the live site yet because it's still behind an 'under construction' plugin (I've also contacted the theme creator, but probably won't hear back from them for another few days.)

I've checked for a similar topic here, but the one that I found isn't really applicable. I'd guess hand coding a new child theme will take me at least 6 hours, otherwise every div (margins and padding too) will get shuffled around, so I'm hoping there's a general plugin I could install that will expand and scale the size of the theme by about 20% (without affecting the font-size).

Am I missing something? I've tried to change some of the code, but is there just a few function.php or config file changes I could make to get this done?
