I love wordpress software. Its the best when it comes to blogging. I was wondering if it would be a good idea to build a regular website without the posts. when you come across the site instead of showing posts it will show a home page thats not post related. Is this possible to do? or would you say wordpress shouldn't be used for such task.

    thanks.

Anyone? or is there a way to move the post from appearing on the front page? and replace it with a page set up the way you choose?

WordPress >= version 2.1 can handle this rather easily. Please see this page in the codex for instructions: Creating a Static Front Page

If there's a reason you can't upgrade past 2.0.11, you may want to use the plugin http://www.semiologic.com/software/static-front/

I think what you want to do is very logical and common...having a static home page. The recommendations already given are sound - I just wanted to let you know WordPress can definitely be used for such a task.

In relation to this. How does one move the blog page? So if I set the static page to the front page, does this mean I can no longer have an area to post blogs?

Nevermind I see it. it's right under the set static dropdown. You create a blank page and then set it to the "post page" in the 'reading' settings.
