[resolved] 'Exclude full-size' option not working when converting PNGs (4 posts)

I'm uploading PNGs with transparency which I have set to be converted to JPG (quality 90) with a white background on the transparent areas. Transparency is important on the full size images which can be downloaded but is not necessary for the thumbnails which are displayed on a white background. For that reason, the conversion is only required for the thumbnails, however, having set the "Exclude full-size images from lossy optimization" option, the full size image is still converted to JPG and replaces the original. Is this feature not available when converting between formats or is this just an oversight? I'm using Nginx if this has any bearing on things.

Otherwise, the plugin has been excellent so far!
    Thanks in advance.

That would be half oversight, half on purpose. The intent of the feature is to exclude full-size images from lossy optimization, not lossy conversion. I don't think there is any reason it could not be extended to apply to lossy conversion, it just wasn't part of the original discussion, and I never thought of it. At any rate, I'll stick this as a feature request.
