• I’ve been completing a website for a client of mine, but only recently have I purchased a hosting package for her. Until she had her own domain name, I worked on the site by creating a test-blog directory on my own website. Now that she has her own domain, I need to transfer all the work that I’ve done from my website to hers. Is there an easy way of going about this, or do I have to manually go through, copy and paste all the scripts and pages?

  • make sure you have 2.8.4 …

you can export as XML file under the Tools >> Export >>

once you have installed 2.8.4 on new domain, simply use Tools >> Import …

some files and plugins you will need to install as well as any images of files you have uploaded .. these do not transfer over ..

My site is running on an older version, and I’m afraid if I download the 2.8.4 version, all my information will be lost. There aren’t any other ways of going about this?

information will not be lost .. 2.8.4 only replaces he WP core files .. so your themes are protected and any uploads you have made ..

as long as you do not delete the files, it will simply overwrite the necessary files …

i am sure there is a workaround, but from my experience, 2.8.4 makes it EASY!!
