Exchanging Contact Details

    In WordPress forums; are you allowed to exchange contact information as long as the contact method is through a form, as apposed to just using an email address?

    It’s just I came across someone asking for another’s login details, ‘mod-look’ed the thread and the mod-look was removed without any action.

    Can someone clarify in which circumstances is it okay to exchange this type of information?

    Sometimes plugin authors ask for login details to help track down a particularly elusive bug which is fine. But I agree that in other situations, a request for admin access to a site should be treated with great caution by the site owner – especially if it is unsolicited.

    Perhaps posting a warning to this effect might help?

    “modlook”. Hi there. I hope that you can help me. I have changed my Email Address. Ny username is the same. Under my old Email address I had subscribed to a number of WordPress sites. I wish all of these contacts that I had on my old Email address to be transferred to my new email address as I wish to continue subscribing to every one of them.     ‘Fraid not. 😉 As Andrew asked, do you mean WordPress.COM? This is not that place and if you do mean WordPress.COM then you may want to consider asking at their forums.
