[resolved] Excessive memory usage (4 posts)

    Can anyone help me with the following: All In One SEO pack is crashing my admin pages with excessive memory usage, giving me the message:

    Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 268435456 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 2097152 bytes) in /home/karroje/public_html/wp-includes/option.php on line 251

    (My php memory limit is set to 256 Mb.) When activated, AIOSEO triggers the problem, making my WordPress page inaccessible. Once the plugin is deactivated from the command line, I am able to again access the page, but if I try to immediately reactivate the plugin I "trigger a fatal error". If I wait some indeterminate amount of time (> 30 min), that problem goes away and I can restart the cycle.

    Running WordPress 3.4.2, Thesis, and have the following plugins active:
    * akismet
    * Easy Recipe Plus
    * Feedblitz Member Mail
    * Google Integrations toolkit
    * Google XML sitemaps
    * Jetpack
    * RecipeSEO
    * Redirection
    * ShareThis
    * SocialMediaWidget
    * WordPress Print This
    * WP Render Blogroll

    Usually, that's not a problem with the plugin. It means your over your memory limit. See this thread for a couple solutions.

    karroje,

    Does it always die at the same place? That line of code you reference is for update_option(), and is not specific to All in One SEO Pack. I'd suggest debugging your site by temporarily deactivating other plugins or switching your theme; it'd be good to narrow down what's using so much memory and why.

    http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wp-memory-usage/ is a good resource for potentially determining plugins with memory issues. It's not perfect, but is a good place to start.

    http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/p3-profiler/ can tell you more information about which plugins/theme/etc may be slowing down your site.

    All in One SEO Pack is typically not going to be using excessive amounts of memory.
