Hi Everyone,
I am trying to find a plugin, or code etc to do following:
Where it has recent posts in the sidebar, I want it to either show what category the recent post was posted in, or an excerpt from the post itself.
I have been searching and searching but I just cant seem to find anything, so does anyone know of a widget or plugin that can do this, or point me in the right direction?

It is not a widget, it's a traditional plugin. Didn't check if it works with the latest WP versions (it works on 2.0.x branch for sure)

Seems crazy that there isn't a simple widget for WP 2.5 which offers excerpts with your recent posts ... I spent 40 min looking but couldn't find anything nice and simple and easy to use. I'd like something like the default widget but with excerpts...

I was able to get excerpts by using the RSS feed widget - although its seems crazy to have to do this. It would also be nice if all the built-in widgets were also offered as stand alone plugins so that one could more easily modify them...
