   The guy who made this plug-in has disappeared off the face of the earth...I'm using EXCERPT EDITOR from http://www.laptoptips.ca/projects/wordpress-excerpt-editor/

   Is there a way for the “READ MORE” button that appears on my home page to appear on the categories pages? My entire site is organized by a categories menu system and when I click on any category page to display the related posts, excerpts are formed without the “MORE” button (which I have skinned to a custom image). The plug-in would be great if it weren’t “incomplete” it seems. What is the point in having an excerpt that doesn’t link you to the rest of the article? That is the problem I am having on the categories pages. Excerpts that simply end in the last word of the excerpt, instead of ending with a READ MORE link.

   The MORE button shows up on the main page, so I can’t hard script this in to all my excerpts or I will get two MORE buttons on the homepage. So...if I can’t get the MORE button to appear on categories page, is there a way for me to make a rule that says all excerpts generated by this plug in will NOT have a MORE link? That way I can manually insert a more tag in each excerpt. Please help me figure out how to kill the rule for the MORE button only showing up on the main pa, either by getting rid of MORE in all excerpts or by adding in a categories page rule. It just seems so strange that the excerpts formed by this plug-in work on the categories page, but do not generate the MORE button on the categories page.    Please, anyone: how do I make ANY SORT of "read more" text or button (the button that links to the main article) appear in the excerpts on my CATEGORIES pages? I have a "read more" button that works on the main page but it won't show up in my categories pages. Please, any help is greatly appreciated.

   What do I need to edit to tell wordpress to make the "read more" button appear in CATEGORIES-page excerpts?

   The latest version of the plugin is good for WP 2.6. So, which one are you using?
   For this plugin you apparently did not need to paste any code in any of your template files; just setting it through "Manage – Excerpt Editor" My guess is that is only works on 'index.php' and not on other template files from your theme.
   There are other plugins that take the first x words from your post for an excerpt and add a "read more ..." (the standard excerpt function in my WP2.7.1. does not) Search the plugin database. I am usig this one: http://www.lucabiagini.com/2008/11/wordpress-plugin-the-excerpt-re-reloaded/
