I picked today to upgrade my blog. Using this helpful page I deleted the admin and includes file and replaced them with the upgraded admin and includes file. Now my blog is gone and I can't get to my admin - all I get is this:
Warning: require_once(../wp-load.php) [function.require-once]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/politif1/public_html/wp-admin/admin.php on line 7
Fatal error: require_once() [function.require]: Failed opening required '../wp-load.php' (include_path='.:/usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php') in /home/politif1/public_html/wp-admin/admin.php on line 7
What did I do - I wish I hadn't touched a thing. Can anyone help me - or at least point me in the right direction

Upload the missing files -- start with wp-load.php, just like the error says.

Thanks whoo - nothing has changed but I feel like I'm headed in the right direction. I need to create a config file, but I'm having trouble coming up with a database name. I'm calling Blue Host to see if I can get some help.
The page you see is different, do I really need to argie that that IS different.
The upgrade instructions tell you to create a backup. If you have one, of your files, you have a working wp-config.php already. Those same instructions also tell you NOT to delete that file, btw.
For next time ...
Using this helpful page I deleted the admin and includes file and replaced them with the upgraded admin and includes file.
My only concern is if you really just uploaded single files... then we have a problem. Those (wp-admin, wp-includes) are directories or folders with zillion files inside them.

Moshu - I gutted the files and refilled them with the new contents of the upgraded admin and content file. Then I dragged over the new single files that included the load.php file that was missing.
I do have a back-up - but my computer will not open it - it says its blocked for my protection. I am working on unblocking it.
You are using the terms folders/directories and files as if those terms were interchangeable. They are not! That's why nobody understands what are you talking about.

Moshu - Through Filezilla I went into the directory and gutted the wp-admin folder and the wp-content folder. I replaced the files within with the upgraded WP folders and files. Then I dragged over the files from the WP upgrade that began with index.php and ended with the xlmrpc.php. When I attempt to access my admin it now offers to create a new configuration file.
This is what I am working on now.

Sigh.
Did you even read the readme that came with the download?!? This is a very simple procedure. BACKUP everything. Delete all WP files/folders except ones you've modified (such as wp-config.php). Upload all the new files/folders, go to http://yoursite.com/wp-admin/upgrade.php, and BINGO BANGO you're done! What's all this talk about gutting folders and replacing files and then dragging other files?

Its all fixed! Not only did I get the site up to date, I learned the value of backups ( which I do often) and pissed off everyone here!
Now that's a productive day!
Thanks everyone!
I seem to be missing wp-load.php
