    anyone?

apparently nobody has done anything like this so far?

    what a heck?

and I’d think it would be one of the most requested features…

why not just use a plugin like http://www.deliciousdays.com/cforms-plugin

you dont need it to output anything on the front end, right? just a way for people to sign up for an event? with that plugin you can create very customized forms. i used it on a site for a registration form for a non-profit group. they wanted it to include a bunch of info from users, including a big group of check boxes etc.

    good idea…

but I still needed a frontend output to display actual events with a URL to signup and such, so I had to modify events-category plugin a bit to work the way I needed.

for now, it’s cforms + events-category together that are taking care of this issue…

I am currently in the alpha state of making such a plugin.

The company who needs this, want an easy admin where it is possible to set up an form, using UI. I will be using some jQuery drag’n’drop. Validation is a must.
It will be possible to export to a .csv for easy use with Excel etc.

If you have any ideas, suggestions etc. I am open.
As long I make it usable for the company who is paying for it, I wont mind adding features.

Ps. the company know this will be open-source.
Pps. It will work in 2.5+

Of course with an front end of some sort, showing participants etc.

I’ll be more than happy to see such a plugin (as far as I know, this is gonna be the first one of this kind, and there were already quite a few requests)

I’d love to use it for website of department of my university to prepare a module for signing up for seminars: so my suggestion for features would be:
    – max limit of people for a particular event
    – possibility to set opening time for signing up to start

Thanks and keep us posted 🙂

I saw this as I was searching for a solid calendar. I don’t see this as being much more difficult than a link to a form for sign ups. The form plugin link above has registration limits.

The challenging part has been to find the right calendar plugin. Some work, some don’t and some require external connections. I’m going to create a new post on this.

and what about an option for a person to sign out, is it possible? one would have to get some kind of code/password, which would be used during signing out process…

What do you mean by sign out? They sign up for the event by filling out the form. Some level of human intervention maybe to make sure it is a real request.

You mean sign out while they are at the event?

I’m assuming that it means if they decide not to attend the event, they can de-register themselves?

I’m assuming that it means if they decide not to attend the event, they can de-register themselves?

yep! exactly – sorry for the confusion, my english is not good enough sometimes…

for my needs (simple page for singing up for a seminar) I’d need this option for people to be able to de-register (before the event/seminar starts), and after a person de-registers his place would become free for another person

Well… you could use a combination of existing plugins etc.
But my users is very dumb. So I have to keep it simple.
I my self use cForms and I love it, but for this purpose, it just too advanced.

I’ve got an “Go ahead”, so make this plugin is a certainty.
For now I have a very rough idea of how this is going to work.

I would really love to hear any input, features ideas etc.

    1. Keep It Simple Stupid
    2. Use of jQuery, to make the build of the form easy and fun.
    3. TinyMCE integration, for easy publish of a single registration form.
    4. Validation
    5. Export of attending people (.csv)
    6. E-mail – Telling people what they signed up for and a link for “de-registering”
    7. Theme-able + option to use css from WP theme.
    8. Gettext localization (.po/.mo)
    9. Option for advanced users to insert html, when building the formular.
    10. Set “active period”, set max people attending.

    Missing anything?

We are two that will be working on this and the deadline is in 2 weeks.

the list of features sounds superb for me, I cannot think of anything else (the idea with ‘de-registering’ link is simple and perfect, I dont know how I could have been thinking about some extra passwords for this process)

    good luck with that! 🙂

This sounds good to me as well, thanks thomasdk81!
