Event Registration Plugin (80 posts)

I have searched the WP plugin area as well as Google for a considerable amount of time looking for a plugin so I can start a webinar registration area. For example, a visitor goes to my webinar page and registers with specific info for an upcoming webinar.

The only plugin that I found that may have had the capability is wp-eventmanager but it's development has not continued and was not even stable on 2.2.

Any ideas on how I can make this happen would be greatly appreciated.

apparently nobody has done anything like this so far?

    what a heck?

and I'd think it would be one of the most requested features...

why not just use a plugin like http://www.deliciousdays.com/cforms-plugin

you dont need it to output anything on the front end, right? just a way for people to sign up for an event? with that plugin you can create very customized forms. i used it on a site for a registration form for a non-profit group. they wanted it to include a bunch of info from users, including a big group of check boxes etc.

    good idea...

but I still needed a frontend output to display actual events with a URL to signup and such, so I had to modify events-category plugin a bit to work the way I needed.

for now, it's cforms + events-category together that are taking care of this issue...

I am currently in the alpha state of making such a plugin.

The company who needs this, want an easy admin where it is possible to set up an form, using UI. I will be using some jQuery drag'n'drop. Validation is a must.
It will be possible to export to a .csv for easy use with Excel etc.

If you have any ideas, suggestions etc. I am open.
As long I make it usable for the company who is paying for it, I wont mind adding features.

Ps. the company know this will be open-source.
Pps. It will work in 2.5+

I'll be more than happy to see such a plugin (as far as I know, this is gonna be the first one of this kind, and there were already quite a few requests)

I'd love to use it for website of department of my university to prepare a module for signing up for seminars: so my suggestion for features would be:
    - max limit of people for a particular event
    - possibility to set opening time for signing up to start

Thanks and keep us posted :)

I saw this as I was searching for a solid calendar. I don't see this as being much more difficult than a link to a form for sign ups. The form plugin link above has registration limits.

The challenging part has been to find the right calendar plugin. Some work, some don't and some require external connections. I'm going to create a new post on this.

and what about an option for a person to sign out, is it possible? one would have to get some kind of code/password, which would be used during signing out process...

What do you mean by sign out? They sign up for the event by filling out the form. Some level of human intervention maybe to make sure it is a real request.

You mean sign out while they are at the event?

I'm assuming that it means if they decide not to attend the event, they can de-register themselves?

yep! exactly - sorry for the confusion, my english is not good enough sometimes...

for my needs (simple page for singing up for a seminar) I'd need this option for people to be able to de-register (before the event/seminar starts), and after a person de-registers his place would become free for another person

Well... you could use a combination of existing plugins etc.
But my users is very dumb. So I have to keep it simple.
I my self use cForms and I love it, but for this purpose, it just too advanced.

I've got an "Go ahead", so make this plugin is a certainty.
For now I have a very rough idea of how this is going to work.

I would really love to hear any input, features ideas etc.

    1. Keep It Simple Stupid
    2. Use of jQuery, to make the build of the form easy and fun.
    3. TinyMCE integration, for easy publish of a single registration form.
    4. Validation
    5. Export of attending people (.csv)
    6. E-mail - Telling people what they signed up for and a link for "de-registering"
    7. Theme-able + option to use css from WP theme.
    8. Gettext localization (.po/.mo)
    9. Option for advanced users to insert html, when building the formular.
    10. Set "active period", set max people attending.

    Missing anything?

We are two that will be working on this and the deadline is in 2 weeks.

the list of features sounds superb for me, I cannot think of anything else (the idea with 'de-registering' link is simple and perfect, I dont know how I could have been thinking about some extra passwords for this process)

    good luck with that! :)

There will be some kind of IP logging.
This makes the fight againt spam easier and the admin will have a way to spot "fraud".

Matthewp, as soon I feel anything is close to beta I will let you know, and we would like you guys to test the plugin. That would excelent.

How is your plugin developing going on?
Here's one more user who is waiting for this plugin to come available.

    Nice to hear :)

The deadline was on friday, but we have used a longer time on getting jQuery to work with jQuery UI in WordPress (Without removing any bundled jQuery (what other plugins may relay on)).

That seems to be working now and the drag'n'drop works nicely.
The manage section should be working, not tested because the DB layout is being designed right now.

So over all its looking good, its just the soon to come holiday that are time consuming right now :D

We had hope to enter the plugin contest, but it is unreachable right now.

As soon as a beta is ready you guys will know.

My fellow plugin author, Morten, has been creative. He drew a sketch of the DB structure. Take a look, give some feedback.

wouldnt you need some kind of 'description' field in event table ?

You mean a description of the event and such?
Its possible to insert plain text via the forms table.
You could just put one at the top and have the input fields underneath.

If you want it to be possible to pull the description seperately, then we would need a field in the event table.

Lets see if it is necessary.

    I hope I made sence :)

Morten just reminded me, that when you have build the from.
You create a post or page, push the eventreg icon and select the form you just build.
So the description is written in the post.

But again if you need to pull only the description, we would need a field for that.

Just a thought, is it possible to integrate a payment processor into this so that they can register and pay for the event all in one form?

Right now I am on vacation in Luxembourg :)
Thanks to the friendly neighbor who is sharing his or hers WiFi.

Payment would be a interesting feature, definitely a version 2 candidate.

Could you describe how the payment work, if you would decide?

    Vacation greetings

ah yeah, of course, the description in post/page should be enough

I was also on vacation break, in norway, beautiful country with incredible nature, worth visiting :)

    greets!

I love the concept of this plugin. I am working on personal website for artists and would love the opportunity to have people sign-up for events .

    5. Export of attending people (.csv)

it would be great to include the attendees email in there as well.

    6. E-mail - Telling people what they signed up for and a link for "de-registering"

Maybe make the email customizable so a payment link to make a payment through an external processor like pay-pal..

Thanks a bunch.. When do you think the beta version will be released? I would be happy to be one of the testsers. :)
