you need to specify the child categories also.
e.g. [events_list category=”x,y,z”] where x,y,z are event categories id and x is the parent category and y,z are child categories
This is not a shortcode issue.
I create a page with just CONTENTS.
This page has filter options, including a dropdown to filter on categories, when selecting a parent category I was expecting to also see the child categories as WordPress does with it’s categories.
The intended behavior is that the category dropdown shows all parent and child categories, with child categories nested under the parent categories. Are you seeing that?
Yes and when I select the parent category, the output produced does not show the events that have the children categories.
Unlike WordPress where if you pull up an archive page for categories, WordPress will show all posts that contain either the parent category or it’s children or both.
Got you. To get that kind of behavior you’d need to check the parent category as well in admin.
You mean also add the parent as a category of an event?
You mean also add the parent as a category of an event?
yes, we don’t search child categories atm
OK, hopefully you’ll add this feature in a future release.
