   I am trying to run wordpress as my staff intranet.

   I installed Ubuntu 12 Desktop into VMWare
   Installed LAMP
   Installed WordPress
   Hard coded the intranet server 192.168.28.39 into DNS so be called http://intranet

   As soon as I change the permalinks, all of my pages except the main page gives a 404 error.

   .htaccess is writable and does get modified.

   Any help would be great.

   Ensure that mod_rewrite is enabled on your server.
