errors after moving host, no categories or archives (8 posts)

hey, I just moved my site, mikelightman.com, to a new host and now I'm having a few weird errors.

I can connect fine to the site, but I can't access any of the archives or categories. Whenever I click a category or old link, it just loads the main page. I followed the directions from Codex to the letter, but i obviously screwed something up.

Also, when I load the page, I get an error in the browser window; it's trying to load "http://localhost" but I can't seem to find where.

    thanks for looking,
    ML

I wonder if I should re-export the database from my old server. Could that be it?

Did you update your permalink settings after the move?

hmm. well, it's not working again. I'm at a bit of a loss here. categories & pages aren't working. I've updated / changed the permalink structure back & forth & nothing seems to work. Anyone have any ideas?

i've been reading it might be the permissions on my .htaccess file, and I just reset them to 776. I also saw on my ISP (netfirms) support page that php 4 works better for WP than 5, so I switched that too. Still nothing.

oddly enough, one of my pages does work, just not like it should. the page for my portfolio should load up a link to launch my flash gallery in a new window. instead, it just launches the gallery directly.

All the other pages (whether I've recreated them or not) just reload the homepage.

I'm stuck & would reallly appreciate any help.

    thanks a lot,
    Mike

    Netfirms...

Search these forums for Netfirms & permalinks.

    Bit of a reputation there.

SONOFA! stupid netfirms. thanks for the tip HandySolo. I fixed the .htaccess file and now it's working fine.
