Hey everyone. I'm trying to upgrade my old version of WP to v. 2.7.1. I followed the instructions as listed in the readme and install files, but when I try to access /wp-admin/upgrade.php, I only get the following message:
" Fatal error: Cannot redeclare validate_file() (previously declared in /home/dolcezza/public_html/blog/wp-includes/functions.php:2783) in /home/dolcezza/public_html/blog/wp-admin/admin-functions.php on line 1632 "
This is my first time actually UPGRADING WP so I'm a bit clueless here. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks! :)
fabuliz, from what version are you upgrading?
your old version.. how old?
if you are NOT doing the automatic upgrade, ie, its a much older version of wordpress that you started with, you failed to delete all the core files off the server before uploading the new files. hence the error.
I guess you've missed Step 1.2 "Delete your old wp-includes and wp-admin directories." ;)

It's a pretty old version -- last updated in early 2007, hahaha.
Will do what you mentioned kovshenin and let ya know if that works, thanks all!

Why is it always the obvious stuff I miss? It never fails! Haha. You were right kovshenin -- I deleted, uploaded, and now upgrade.php has a nice upgrade page/notice.
Thanks for the replies all! :)
Welcome. Glad you did it ;)
