Hi, I just set up another wordpress blog on my server, I already have two of them running fine. But this one, when I tried to create a test post and upload an image I keep getting this error.

Warning: file_exists() [function.file-exists]: open_basedir restriction in effect. File(/tmp/phpi0TOOG) is not within the allowed path(s): (/home/) in /home/xxxx/public_html/www.xxxx.com/wp-includes/functions.php on line 1712

The uploaded file could not be moved to /home/xxxx/public_html/www.xxxx.com/wp-content/uploads.

Ive checked the file permissions and even tried with with 777 permissions set on the uploads folder.

Ive tried creating a tmp file and giving it 777 permissions.

Ive tried changing writing and media settings.

Have no idea whats wrong.... Any help please?

I can post text successfully, but images only if I upload them to the server and use a plugin. But the person who will be posting to this site does not know how to use FTP.

Sounds like you are trying to access a PHP file that is on your server, but that does not belong to the account that is trying to access it.

This may be of help - http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1846882/open-basedir-restriction-in-effect-file-is-not-within-the-allowed-paths

Thanks, I just contacted my hosting provider, thankfully they have 24 hour chat support. I showed them the error and they fixed it in 2 secs.. So really I have no idea what it was still :S

It's likely a configuration error on their end if they were able to fix it so quickly.
