This was working fine for until 5th of June, now I have the following problems:

When I try to post to twitter I'm getting the following error message:

connect() timed out! Your server time: Wednesday, 05-Jun-13 06:27:28 UTC.
Twitter's server time: There was an error querying Twitter's servers.

UTC time is 2013-06-05 6:31:24 Local time is 2013-06-05 7:31:24

Any help is appreciated, I have spoken to my host but they didn't really help.

    Regards

Have you tried version 2.6.7 yet?

I have no way to know; but since you posted shortly after it came out, I wanted to check.

The fact that you're having an error querying Twitter's servers at all suggests a problem at the hosting level; but has anything else changed in your environment around the same time? New hosting, new server, etc.?

I have spoken to my host about this, they said Global server time configuration cannot be changed, but you can use PHP function date_default_timezone_set to set your own time zone for your website.

Not sure how to change that, I had the same host for WordPress since installation and to my knowledge I haven't been moved to a new server.

Version 2.6.7 does use date_default_timezone_set, which is why I asked. It's the first version to make use of it directly in the plugin.

But you error isn't a time zone issue, if you're getting a connection timeout; that means you have some other problem. A timeout error is returned when the amount of time it takes your server to connect with Twitter is taking too long, so the code ends the process and returns a timeout error instead.

There are a lot of possible reasons for a timeout error, including things completely out of your control - like a DNS routing problem in the network. There's very little I can do to debug that, however -- we're you asking your host about the timezone discrepancy, or about the connect timeout?

    Best,
    Joe

    2.6.8 doesn't work.

I was asking them about the timezone discrepancy and they said they only do web hosting and not web design services lol, was nice of them to help haha.

Sounds like what you really need to do is change hosts. If they can't be bothered to keep the time on their server correct, and consider that a 'web design service', that's a problem.

Regardless, you should try 2.6.9; which I hope will work for you, despite the incorrect time zone on your server.

It appears that Twitter have blocked the ip's from my hosting company, well that's what they told me.

I guess there is no work around this?

If Twitter has blocked the IP's of your hosting company, then you really have no option except to change hosts or wait until Twitter unblocks those IP's; if they ever do.
