    Hi,

You are more than likely experiencing a server related issue. Were you trying to do the Famous 5 Minute Install? Is this a new domain? Who is your host?

    Hi mar1965
    Thanks for your kind comment.
Yes, this problem occur when I try the 5 min install.
But after I download the Chinese version,it seems the problem is that I need to create a "server environment"? I'm not much sure about this and I know nothing about how to create a website.

I did buy a domain but still not use it: http://www.sparklinggift.com
    About the host,honestly, I don't know :(
    I use my pc(ACER)...
    Thx,
    Cici

    Hi Cici,

If you are still not using the domain, it sounds like you are trying to do a local installation. Is that what you really want to do? See if this article WordPress Installation Techniques is of any help. This Chinese article might also be of help to understand WordPress Installations zh-cn:安装 WordPress.

If you are planning to run your website Sparkling Gift with WordPress, you may want to consider hosting it.

    Hi Martin,

I don't want local installation as I want to run it in English not Chinese.
I've read the article you recommend but still confused about the hosting. How do I know my host and how to host my website?
    Thx.
    Cici

    Hi Cici,

I got the impression that you were attempting a local installation because you mentioned that you had downloaded the Chinese version of WordPress and it didn't appear that you were uploading the files to a web server.

This link recommends a few quality hosts: WordPress Web Hosting, but you can certainly purchase your host elsewhere. Where are you located? I do not want to assume that you are in China, but the domain registrar above reflects that your domain is registered there. A webhost allows you to build and run a website remotely (meaning not on your PC). Some hosts have very simple tools that allow you to quickly install WordPress even though you have limited technical knowledge.

Do you remember who you bought the Sparklinggift.com domain from? I see that the domain is registered through Shanghai Meicheng Technology Information Development Co. Perhaps the company that you bought the domain from also offers hosting accounts.

    Hi Martin,

    Thanks for your patiently reply.
    Yes I'm in China.
I just wonder is it possible to just register a blog account on wordpress and post some words and pictures?
I did try to open http://www.wordpress.com but it failed to connect. I'm not sure whether it's because I'm in China and your website is blocked or not. :(
Is it possible to modify the Host document with wordexpress website indicate to the correct IP address(what's the IP address for wordexpress site)? I find this solution by google it.

I know about wordpress on the bottom of this company website http://smartcard-inlay.com and I want to build a website similar as that.I assume that it should be easy by just download and unzip and install. But now it seems to be much complex.

But thanks for your kind explanation, I have some clue how it was doing now.

    Br.Cici :)

    Hi Cici,

Yes I believe that due to censorship in China, WordPress.com might still be blocked; although I have read of some individuals that have been able to use it with issues - sometimes minimal, but other times a lot. Unfortunately, that could prevent you from reliably running a blog account. If you want to use WordPress for blogging, your only other option is a hosted account - the method that you are attempting to use.

Unfortunately, I am not familiar with wordexpress. If you can clarify that, I might be able to answer your question.
