I am getting this error message
Warning: Unexpected character in input: ' in /home/greencon/public_html/wordpress/wp-includes/functions-formatting.php on line 295
I am not sure what is wrong. I have installed it on my hard disk and checked when everything seemed to be fine.

Whichever file the error is being reported in, delete that one from the server and reupload it.
It could be a fault on the upload process.

I tried that Podz, but it did not work. I told myself, if Podz can't bail me out, what on earth am I gonna do. :)
So, I kept uploading and installing over and over again. I tried all possible permutations and combinations. It didn't work. I tried it uploading on a different server; it still did not work. I deleted and created databases and users over and over again on this server and that. It still wouldn't work. :O
My last resort was to try a different FTP client. And guess what? It worked! There apparently something was wrong with WS FTP. The uploading was fine with Cute FTP. I wonder why. The Auto Detect function of WS FTP seems to have a bug.
    Cheers!
