• Normally, I would do a Forum search for posting such a question as below, but this Forum doesn’t seem to offer a search option, so forgive me if this question has been asked before 🙂

I’ve figured out why my PHP pages were not showing up, but now when I go to the blog on my server [www.sitename.com/blog/wp-admin/install.php], I get the following message:

    Error establishing a database connection
This either means that the username and password information in your wp-config.php file is incorrect or we can’t contact the database server at localhost. This could mean your host’s database server is down.

    • Are you sure you have the correct username and password?
    • Are you sure that you have typed the correct hostname?
    • Are you sure that the database server is running?

    Anyone have any ideas?

    Thanks in advance.
    EF

So, what do I do then?

Sorry, I’m new at this stuff 🙂

your host control panel has a place where you set up the database?
look for the db host name in there.
try to log in to phpmyadmin with the user name and password for your database. if you can get in, those are ok and the host name will be listed near the top of the page.

i’ve a cpanel, in phpmyadmin host is localhost,
everything was done as in instruction

    Error establishing a database connection

this text is a result of opening wp-config on server
