I'm very new to wordpress.
I'm using the wordpress theme twentyeleven.
No matter how I try to add an image (media) to a page or a post, I get the following error message:
"Unable to create directory D:\Hosting\8811390\html/wp-content/uploads/2012/01. Is its parent directory writable by the server?"
What am I doing wrong? What do I need to change?
You need to change the folder permissions on the folder wp-content/uploads.
Who's your webhost?

It's godaddy. I went into my ftp file manager on godaddy and thought I'd changed the permissions, but it's possible I didn't do the right option.
Any suggestions?
It looks like you're on Windows hosting. Check out http://support.godaddy.com/help/article/6481 for how to change permissions, you need to change the uploads folder to full read, write and rewrite.
If possible, get them to move you to LINUX hosting instead (it's a little easier).
