Error Installing a Theme w/ WP installed on root at Dreamhost (2 posts)

I installed WP last night with one of the domains I host with Dreamhost. I installed it so when you go to mydomain.com the blog loads immediately, instead of having it forward to blog.mydomain.com or something like that.

I'm trying to install a theme from a .zip file on my computer and I'm getting this error:
Failed to connect to FTP Server smallgreenandmatte.com:21

Which is totally reasonable as I haven't configured FTP on the domain. The only way I know of to configure FTP is to "add hosting" with Dreamhost, which would, as far as I know, make it impossible to host my WP install at mydomain.com instead of blog.mydomain.com.

The screen I'm presented with has a field for hostname, username, password, and connection type.

Any help would be great appreciated.

    Thanks.

If you hadn't added hosting - which you need to set up database as well - for your domain, how did you ever install WordPress in the first place and associate it with your account? In addition, you don't FTP zipped theme folders to server, you need to unzip the theme folder first, then upload the theme to server in wp-content/themes/ folder.
