"Error establishing a database connection" upon password reset (3 posts)

    Hi,

Before upgrading WordPress, I decided I should backup my database using phpMyAdmin. However, the database had been set up long ago by someone before me, so I had to ask my host to reset the password in order to log in to phpMyAdmin.

Now I can log in, but when trying to export the database that I need, I am given the error message: "Error 6 (net::ERR_FILE_NOT_FOUND): The file or directory could not be found."
When trying to view my site, I get the message: "Error establishing a database connection." The same message appears when I attempt to log-in to WordPress for my site.
(I suppose that all this is due to the password change?)

What should I do now? Would 'installing' WordPress again solve the issue by giving WordPress access to the database again? Would their be problems in duplicating the tables etc.?

Sorry for the really long description...
Thanks in advance for your help!

You need to make sure your new database details are reflected in the wp-config.php file.

OK! So is that the only change I need to make? And then everything will be connected and running smoothly?
