Error establishing a database connection – After installing and importing files

    Hi there,

    I tried setting up my blog as a network and it seemed to work fine but in the end I didn’t need the feature so I tried to revert back to previous normal wordpress. I messed things up so in the end I made a backup of the database and deleted the wordpress installation from cPanel.

    I set up wordpress again using Fantastico De Luxe, and then from the file “FileSystem” folder which was included with the backup (used WPOnline backup plugin to make the backup), I copied and pasted these files over the files of the site using FTP.

    However now when I try to load the page, or visit the login page, it just says “Error establishing a database connection”.

    Anyone able to help? Thanks

    I’d suggest you make a completely fresh install and do NOT restore any files or database backups.

    “Error establishing a database connection” this error message appears often when i visit my website. Is it hosting server problem or wordpress issue?

    If it is an intermittent problem it indicates that the web server is not able to talk to the database server or the connection between them is too slow, so a server problem

    Well! I have already talked to Hostgator support. They helped to figure out my issue. Their support is great!(Even though i am not their customer). But they willing to teach me. My current web hosting really sucks. Keep promise me that i will not face this issue again and again. But i will also face it again after 1 minutes when i continue visiting my website.
