Error establishing a database connection (7 posts)

    Hi,

    I have trouble establishing database connection.

    My blog is at http://foodiebaker.com

    As i'm very new to this, please tell me what I need to do to get my blog back!! I have tried restoring my database through dreamhost and it's not really working.

    Please help, I'm really at a loss of what to do.

    The page i've got says:

    This either means that the username and password information in your wp-config.php file is incorrect or we can't contact the database server at mysql.foodiebaker.com. This could mean your host's database server is down.

    Are you sure you have the correct username and password?
    Are you sure that you have typed the correct hostname?
    Are you sure that the database server is running?

    If you're unsure what these terms mean you should probably contact your host. If you still need help you can always visit the WordPress Support Forums.

    I really have no idea what to do, please help

  3. If you haven't changed anything in your site or via FTP, talk to Dreamhost; sounds like something is broken on their end.

    Your password isn't working (I just checked with the user id and password combo you have in the wp-config.php)

    You can try changing it here: https://panel.dreamhost.com/index.cgi?tree=goodies.mysql&

    And then edit your wp-config.php file accordingly.

    If that doesn't work, open a ticket and ask someone to look at your SQL server.

    Hi, I am now having problem with the server again, I am now getting "Error establishing a database connection". I've already checked the password and all which are all correct. I have no idea what went wrong!

    I don't see any tickets on your account, and your site is loading for me (sorry, I was off yesterday, or I'd have replied sooner). I'm not seeing any reason for your DB to vanish like that, and your wp-config.php hasn't been edited since Jan 30 so that's unlikely to be the cause.

    If you're not making any changes, and this keeps happening, please do open a ticket so we can get a SQL server maestro involved. I'm fantastic at WP but SQL is not my strongest suit.
