• hello. I’m having some trouble installing wordpress. I’ve uploaded the files to my FTP. But when I access the wp-admin/install.php url in my browser, I get the following error:

This either means that the username and password information in your wp-config.php file is incorrect or we can’t contact the database server at localhost. This could mean your host’s database server is down.

    * Are you sure you have the correct username and password?
    * Are you sure that you have typed the correct hostname?
    * Are you sure that the database server is running?

If you’re unsure what these terms mean you should probably contact your host. If you still need help you can always visit the WordPress Support Forums.

I’ve double checked the mysql settings and they are correct…anything else i can do?

  • It usually is something wrong you’ve put in your wp-config.php.

    See Editing wp-config.php.

I’ve checked the Editing guidelines and I think I’m doing everything properly, although I’m clearly not a champ at this, so it’s definitely possible I’ve done something wrong and don’t know it.

My host company is Network Solutions.

Check with network solutions and verify the database host.

At one time they used an IP address for the DB_HOST (maybe it still is that way).
