HI,
I've migrated my site from one to domain to another and since i've moved it i get the error message 'error establishing a connection to the database'.
I've moved wordpress sites before but never encountered this problem.
It's now on an apache server (not sure if that makes a difference?) and i haven't changed anything in the wp-config file so theoretically it should still work - its just that all the links would still point to the old domain until i do a search and replace.
Has anyone encountered this problem before or know what may be causing it?
Any advice would be appreciated.

I'm new to apache servers so have no idea what that means i'm afraid! Is that something that is likely to be causing the issue?
Check the database details with the new hosts.

May you ask from your hosting company to do that for you!

so do i need to move the database as well now its on a different server? i.e. i cant keep it hosted where it is already and just update all the links?
I seriously doubt it. Most hosts do not allow database access from outside a server. Perhaps you need to review Moving_WordPress?

ok thanks. so the best step from here would be to log in to my new hosts control panel and create a new database using the tables from my old site?
Just create an empty database and a new user.
