    Hi there,
Iḿ trying to get multisite going.
In the networksettings is recommended to get rid of the www before my URL. I change this in the general settings and clich save and get the following message:

Warning: is_writable() [function.is-writable]: open_basedir restriction in effect. File(/) is not within the allowed path(s): (/www/htdocs/oplettnu/:/tmp:/usr/share/php) in /www/htdocs/oplettnu/http/wp-admin/includes/misc.php on line 133

Warning: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at /www/htdocs/oplettnu/http/wp-admin/includes/misc.php:133) in /www/htdocs/oplettnu/http/wp-includes/pluggable.php on line 890

    What can be wrong here?

Strangest thing is that when I go back in my browser and save again, I get the log-in page but can no longer log-in, it does not know me anymore....

WP 3.0.1. and I have a wildcard for subdomains in my DNS records as far as I know (I checked the webhost)

    Thx in advance and regards!

Go in to your database & do a search and find any other www references.

    Thx for replying, Andrea!
I deleted all www. in front of my domainname in the db and replaced it.
Now I can't access the site at all, the browsers that there is a kind of loop that never ends....

You know, it's probably the server is set up to respond that way.

Just put the www all back. Then proceed. Yes, I know there was a warning but you CAN install it with the www.

OK, Andrea, than about this warning?:

Warning! Wildcard DNS may not be configured correctly!
The installer attempted to contact a random hostname (f9c8bd.www.domein.nl) on your domain. This resulted in an error message: Couldn't resolve host 'f9c8bd.www.domein.nl'
To use a subdomain configuration, you must have a wildcard entry in your DNS. This usually means adding a * hostname record pointing at your web server in your DNS configuration tool.
You can still use your site but any subdomain you create may not be accessible. If you know your DNS is correct, ignore this message.

I Do have a wildcard setup in my DNS according to my webhost....

    Thanks and kind regards

"If you know your DNS is correct, ignore this message."

You're right, ignoring works in this case.
Just got it running and the first site created!!

Thx for your help and kind regards,
    Ronaldus
