• Hello Everybody,

I’m desperate after trying all the possible things I had thought of! I need to remake the style of an existing website and moreover, to add a network to it in oder to add languages. I read it’s impossible to run a WP network from subdirectories and so I decided to just activate the multisite function in the existing website (I want to work on it while it still runs and that’s why all the problems, I guess). In any case, I followed the procedure, added the line on the wp-config, installed the network, add the lines to wp-config and .htaccess as requested and everything went just fine. The only problem is that, when I try to add a new site (in my case /en) I get a message saying “blog address missing or
incorrect”. If I use en without the / when I create the new blog though, this works just fine. This must mean I’m not allowed to install new blogs in sub directories but I just don’t understand why?! Could anyone please help? I’d appreciate it!

    Thanks in advanse

    Enrico

You are incorrect with your assumption there.

If you setup Multisite for subfolder installs (which is an option when you create your netywork), then all you have to do is make sites named ‘en’ and so on.

As you said, they work fine when you leave the / out, so what’s the problem?

Sorry, I just realized I explained myself incorrectly. I wanted to have the new sites in subfolders. Anyway, changing the wp-config I have in the end set up the network the way I wanted and I managed to make it work only partially. Now I can add new sites using /en /fr or whatever, but when I go to “my sites” on the menu on the left of the backend, I only see the site currently running in the main folder and not the new sites added, and I can’t access the dashborad of the new sites created. Any idea of what I could do?

Thanks in advance and sorry for explaining myself incorrectly.

    Cheers

    Enrico
