Ok awesome forum powers that be - I need HELP with this.

So here is what I am trying to do:
    Make a new post

    Here's what happens:
Error 500 on port 80 apache server running the latest version of wordpress

Here is what I have done so far (to no avail) after searching for the past 10 hours through the forums and troubleshooting:

GODaddy hosting control center > file extension manager > removed FCGI file
according to this help documentation http://wordpress.org/support/topic/500-internal-server-error-showing-at-instalation-in-go-daddy-server/page/2

    then I did this
    http://wordpress.org/support/topic/error-500-please-help
and promptly undid it b/c it caused an error 500 message on every page

    I then did this:
    http://www.codedifferent.com/2009/01/12/solution-for-500-internal-server-error-after-upgrading-to-wordpress-27-at-1and1-server/

and then deleted plugin as there was no change:
The plugin nginx-compatibility/nginx-compatibility.php has been deactivated due to an error: Plugin file does not exist.

    I then did these things:
"I needed to "upgrade" to pHp5 . I simply pasted the following code above # Begin WordPress in the .htaccess file:
    AddType x-mapp-php5 .php"

added the "memory 20 mb" line of code in a php document to wordpress admin folder

Upgraded to latest version, uninstalled and reinstalled theme, plugins etc.

I am really at a loss here and need to get this post up for a client asap. Godaddy is my hosting company, with a server running Linux. I have tried their support several times and alas it is not supportive - they are courteous to a fault but unhelpful in this issue.

Please if you have any other strategies I would love to resolve the issue.

t-p thank you for recommending that sticky to me, however i was having these issues in an older version of wordpress and alas still have them after upgrading. I do not think it is a version specific issue.

I have gone through that sticky and checked / done the items recommended and am still getting the error message.

The error message is only appearing when I try to access the file with the url:
    http://the-investor-advocate.com/wp-admin/post-new.php

Could a fresh version of that file be helpful if ftp'd to replace the current version?

Again, all plugins are deactivated and I did test the site utilizing twenty ten to see if it was theme related. it wasn't

Thank you all for any help or suggestions you might have on this issue!

If othe troubleshooting steps didn’t resolve the issue, it’s possible that a .htaccess rule could be the source of the problem. To check for this, access your server via FTP or SFTP and rename the .htaccess file. If you can’t find a .htaccess file, make sure that you have set your FTP or SFTP client to view invisible files.
