• Hi,
    I’m getting the Error 404 – Page Not Found message whenever I click ‘view full post’
    I’m using the Graphene theme which shows snippets of my blog posts but when I attempt to see the full post I’m getting the error message.

    I’m using Ultimate Footer Ad which I don’t think should affect this.
    And I have my WP in a subdirectiory which again shouldn’t affect this. It’s always been in the subdirectory. (for 3 days!!)

    Any help would be appreciated…thanks

    I’ve noticed that the permalinks for all these posts is

    Permalink: http://winninggolfmind.com/wphide/http:/winninggolfmind.com/register.php

    Any idea why these would be like this?? As this is obviously what is wrong

    You’re probably missing a slash ( / ) in http:// in the permalink in the template (on index.php or possibly home.php)

    Look for <a class="continue_reading" href="<?php the_permalink() ?>">
    in the template and see if anything’s amiss there.

    Thanks gwynf for your response. I’d actually tried creating a directing a link from my menu to another webpage on an external website so changed the permalink to the external webpage. Obviously this didn’t work, but I forgot to change it back to the default!

    If you have any idea how to link directly to an external website page from a menu link i’d appreciate it.

    Currently I have to press ‘Register’ button on the menu to open the register page and then put a link in from there!

    Thanks again!

    You’re welcome- If I’m understanding right, you can use the plugin “Page Links To” . Activate it, then in Add New page/ Edit page there’s a field at the bottom where you put the URL you want that menu item to link to.

    WordPress 3.0 has more elegant ways of doing things it with custom menus, but this would be a quick fix.

    Many thanks, I’ve successfully used the custom menus!!
