When I try to get into my WP dashboard I get this error. Everything was fine as of around 5 days ago when I made the last changes to the website. Today I tried to get into the dashboard to add something and I can’t get to it. The websites are there and seem to be working fine. I just can’t get into the dashboard.

I have several WP websites that I update for different organizations.

    These don’t work:
    3rfc.org/3rfc/wp-admin/
    parsec-sff.org/wp-admin/index.php
    parsec-s.ipower.com/confluence/registration/wp-admin/index.php
    parsecink.com/wp-admin/

    These do work:
    http://www.drbobwagner.com/wp-admin/index.php
    http://hide-e-hole.com/wp-admin/index.php

My knowledge: I can put WP websites together and have learned enough to wander through the Cpanel a little, can do a little with FTP, but I am not comfortable with PHP, CSS etc.

I didn’t change anything drastic (no new plugins) (just updated plugins as they told me to). I’m running WP 3.9.1.

I’ve been reading the forum but can’t seem to find anything that seems to apply to being able to see your website but not being able to use the dashboard.

Sorry, but you will need to elaborate on what happens and what you have tried. Do you mean your password is not accepted, or you an sign in but see a the “white screen of death”, etc…

I got a white screen with “ERROR 403: Forbidden” in the upper left corner of the screen. I couldn’t get to where I could put in my username and password.

A friend was able to help me fix it. It was apparently related to WP-SpamShield needing to be updated. My normal login URL is:

http://3rfc.org/3rfc/wp-admin/ That got me the 403: Forbidden error.
http://3rfc.org/3rfc/login got me to where I could log in to my dashboard.

WP SpamShield wanted to be updated, I did, and the problem went away. Seriously considering removing that plugin if it’s going to lock me out when it needs to be updated.

Another website’s normal URL to login is:

http://parsecink.com/wp-admin But that, too, got the white screen with the 403 Forbidden error.
    http://parsecink.com/login worked as well.

However, I also had a subdomain login to a different website:

    http://parsec-s.ipower.com/confluence/registration/wp-admin/index.php

Just replacing “wp-admin” with “login” did not work in that case. What worked was:

    http://parsec-s.ipower.com/confluence/registration/wp-login.php

So the problem was a plugin that needed to be updated.

The solution was finding a different way to log into the WordPress dashboard. Nothing to do with permissions or passwords (which other articles suggested).

But thanks for trying to help.
